Detailed Itinerary of Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake

Day 01: Drive to Besishahar; trek to Bhubule (840 meters)

Besishahar

Your trek begins with a drive to Besishahar from Kathmandu. It is the first destination of your trip, from where you begin trekking. You need to travel for about 7-8 hours to reach Besishahar via roadways.

It is a scenic drive through the countryside of Nepal. From Besishahar, you trek towards Bhubule. It’s a short trek just to get you started. You stay overnight at Bhubule.

Day 02: Trek to Chamje (1410m)

Chamje

On the second day, you begin to trek towards Chamje. As you walk along the great Marsyangdi river, nature welcomes you. There are waterfalls, forests, rice fields and many other attractions along this trail.

Day 03: Trek to Bagarchap (2160m)

Trek to Bagarchap from Chamje is a challenging one. The initial phases of the trek are steep. You walk along suspension bridges, leading towards the beautiful villages.

As you continue the journey, you will come across some beautiful waterfalls. There are many small monasteries along with the popular Thinje Monastery on this trail. From there, you reach Bagarchhap. You stay overnight at Bagarchap.

Day 04: Trek to Chame (2710m)

On the fourth day, you begin an early start towards Chame.

You trek through different villages inspired by the Tibetan lifestyle. The clear sky offers the stunning vistas of Annapurna, Manaslu, and many other peaks. After traversing through the various highlands and lowlands, that finally leads you to Chame.

Day 05: Trek to Pisang (3240m)

The trek to Pisang is quite an adventure. You come across different view-points along the trek. Seeing the exquisite mountain peaks like Lamjung Himal, you ascend an altitude above 3000 meters. It’s best to trek slowly as you ascend to such altitudes.

There are beautiful pinewood forests and a high suspension bridge along the trail. It is quite an experience. You spend the night at Pisang.

Day 06: Trek to Manang (3540m)

The sixth day is one of the main highlights of this trek. On this day, you start to walk towards Manang. As you walk, you reach the famous village- Braga. The village has Tibetan style houses.

You get to see different Gompas and Mani walls along the trail. The unusual dry landscape is what makes Manang so famous. You stay at Manang for the night.

Day 07: Acclimatization at Manang

To adjust for the changes in altitude and oxygen levels, you spend a day acclimatizing in Manang.

You can spend the day exploring the vivid cultures of this place. You get to see some picturesque views of mountain peaks like Annapurna, Tilicho, Gangapurna, and many other peaks.

Day 08: Trek to Khangsar (3735m)

After an acclimatization day at Manang, you head towards Khangsar. On this day, you divert from the main Annapurna Circuit trail and start walking towards Tilicho.

You stay at Khangsar for the night.

Day 09: Trek to Tilicho Base Camp( 4140m)

Tilicho Base Camp

On this day, you trek towards the Tilicho Base Camp. Walking through some off-beaten paths takes you to some hilltops. From there, you get to see the astonishing views of the whole Manang valley.

Then, after a couple of hours, you reach the Tilicho Base Camp. You camp underneath the stars, as there are not many accommodation facilities.

Day 10: Trek to Tilicho Lake (4920m) and Yak Kharka (4040m)

The tenth day is the day when you reach the pristine Tilicho lake. You start an early day as this day has a long trek ahead. You ascend towards the lake and it takes roughly 3-4 hours.

Once you reach the lake, you’ll see mesmerizing views of the amazing lake. The deep blue water makes the whole trek worth walking. After you spend some quality time observing the lake and clicking pictures, you head towards Yak Kharka.

From the lake, you trek for almost 7-8 hours towards Yak Kharka. After the long and adventurous day, you spend the night there.

Day 11: Trek to Thorong Phedi (4450m)

The eleventh day has a short yet challenging trek ahead. You walk up the barren and challenging landscapes towards Thorong Phedi. Once again, you get to see the panoramic vista of peaks like Annapurna and Gangapura.

If you wish you could extend your trek and walk up to Thorong High Camp. It takes an additional 1-2 hours trek from Thorong Phedi.

Day 12: Trek to Muktinath (3800m) via Thorong La pass (5416m)

The main challenge, as well as highlight of the whole trek, is on the twelfth day. You start your journey towards the popular Thorong La Pass. You reach the pass with a couple of hours of trekking.

Getting through the pass is one of the most difficult parts of the trek. But, you get to see the best 360° views of the whole region. Stunning views of peaks like Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Thorong and many other mountains make this place the best throughout your trek.

After spending some time observing the beauty of this place, you head towards Muktinath temple. This is a descending trek, so it’s best to go slow. You stay here for the night.

Day 13: Trek to Jomsom (2743m)

After spending the night at Muktinath, you begin an early day trekking downwards Jomsom. You get to see stunning views of meadows, hills and mountain peaks along this trek.

Along this trail, you come to Kagbeni. This village is quite famous among trekkers. You can find many stupas and Mani walls here.

You reach Jomsom within 4-5 hours and stay here for the night.

Day 14: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara (900m) and drive back to Kathmandu

This is the final day of the trek. You can a flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. If not, it’s worth spending some time in Pokhara. Yet, if you’ve got limited time, choose between a flight or drive directly to Kathmandu from Pokhara.

Tips for the Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake
