Itinerary

Day 1
Kathmandu to Besisahar drive

Kathmandu Elevation: 1,400 meters

Besisahar Elevation: 760 meters

Elevation Loss: 640 meters

Your 10 Days Annapurna Circuit Trek will kick start with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar. After breakfast your guide will brief you about the general outline of the entire trekking adventure, taking the Pritihivi Highway, you will drive across the high hills, soaring rivers, waterfalls, and beautiful towns on both sides of the road as you slowly push for Besisahar.

This drive takes about 6- 7 hours and you will cover an approximate distance of 190 km as you move along the Trishuli River and switch the route to reach Besisahar located at the banks of the Marysangdi River. This vibrant Himalayan town is the traditional starting point for every kind of adventure in the Annapurna region.
Day 2
Driving from Besisahar to Chame

Besisahar Elevation: 760 meters

Chame Elevation: 2,670 meters

Elevation Gain: 1,910 meters

On Day 2 of your 10 Days Annapurna Circuit Trek, after a hearty breakfast, you will take a bus from Besisahar heading toward Chame. This scenic bus route passes several terraced farming regions and lush forests as you move alongside the Marsyangdi River. Moving ahead on the trail, you will also pass several beautiful settlements like Jagat Bazaar and Dharapani (1,860 meters), where you will stop for a short break.

Then, you will continue your trail toward Chame, it will take approximately 5- 6 hours for you to reach Chame from Besishar. Chame is a bustling beautiful Himalayan town with rejuvenating hot springs right next to the Marsyangdi River. From here, you will be able to enjoy the spectacular views of mountain ranges like Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II, Manaslu, and Peak 29.
Day 3
Trekking from Chame to Pisang

Chame Elevation: 2,670 meters

Pisang Elevation: 3,250 meters

Elevation Gain: 580 meters

Leaving Chame behind you will cross a suspension that offers magnificent views of the Lamjung Himal during the first part of this day’s adventure. Then you will move along the trails that pass through steep and narrow valleys from where you will be able to catch a glimpse of the Paungda Dada Rock (1,500 meters). From here you will also be able to enjoy the clear and up-close views of the Annapurna II in the south and Pisang Peak on the northeast side.

As the trail opens up, you will able to see clear wider vistas of the Manang Valley. During the last stretch, you will re-cross a suspension bridge on the southern bank of the Marsyangdi River then trek on the ascending trail with thick pine forest which will lead you to Pisang.
Day 4
Pisang to Manang

Pisang Elevation: 3,250 meters

Manang Elevation: 3,540 meters

Elevation Gain: 290 meters

Continuing your adventure on Day 4 of 10 Days Annapurna Circuit Trek, you will trek on the upper trails of the Pisang via Ghyaru Village. The first part of this trek is relatively easy as you move along the moderate trek till you reach Humde, from here you will have to move along an ascending trail for a bit. On this day’s stunning trekking trail, you will be able to enjoy the clear views of the Annapurna II, III and IV, Pisang Peak, Tilicho, and Gangapurna.

After walking across the Tibeatan-influenced including the Ngawal Village settlements across the trail with the opportunity to relish the spiritual realm immersed in the Buddhist culture as you finally arrive at Manang. This is a popular rest stop in the Annapurna region used for acclimatization before ascending to the higher altitudes, after arriving at Manang, you will also pay a visit to the Barge Monastery, the largest and one of the significant monasteries in the Manag Valley.
Day 5
Trek from Manang to Yak Kharka

Day 5 of your 10 Days Annapurna Circuit Trek is a little bit challenging as you will gain an altitude of 580 meters on the rugged trail. During the first part of this day’s trek, you will ascend to Tanki Managa, the upper Manang Village, from here you will follow the route toward the Jarsang Khola Valley.

Moving ahead, your trail stretches to a small village Ghunsa from Jarsang Khola, you will trek across the yak pasture lands and arrive at a small wooden bridge near a mani wall during the final part which will lead you to Yak Kharka. After arriving at Yak Kharka, the epic views of the Annapurna massifs and Ganagapurna will surround you as you settle in for the night admiring the beauty of these stunning peaks.
Day 6
Yak Kharka to Thorung Phedi trekking

Yak Kharka Elevation: 4,120 meters

Thorung Phedi Elevation: 4,550 meters

Elevation Gain: 430 meters

Compared to yesterday’s trail, the trekking route of Day 6 in your 10 Days Annapurna Circuit Trek will be relatively shorter and of moderate level. This day’s trek will start with a gradual climb on a ridge then the trail stretches down to the river bed and you will cross Jarsang Khola (4,310 meters). Then, from here onwards, you will trek on the uphill pebbly route that will take you to the Thorong Phedi.

In this day’s beautiful trekking adventure, you will be able to witness the magnificence of the Annapurna III, Gangapurna, Thorang Peak, Khatungkan, Gundang, and Syagang. Overnight stay at the finest guesthouse in the region.
Day 7
Thorung Phedi to Thorung La and Muktinath

In your 10 Days Annapurna Circuit Trek expedition, this day will be both a challenging and exciting day’s adventure as you trek to the highest elevation point of this entire adventure, Thorung La Pass (5,416 meters). Starting your adventure early in the morning you will set out to overcome the icy chill air, high altitude, and rugged trail to the top of the Thorung La Pass. From the top of this high Himalayan pass, you will be able to enjoy the clear panoramic views of the Himalayan range that extends all the way upto the Tibet.

After immersing in the magnificent beauty of the Himalayas from the top of this pass to your heart's content, you will trek down to Muktinath. You will trek down the steep path of the pass that switches into a moderate trekking route and after about 3-4 hours of downhill trekking you will finally arrive at Muktinath. This religious temple with 108 water taps has a significant value in both Hindu and Buddhist religions; Muktinath Temple also houses the eternal flame that has burning inside the temple for more than 2,000 years. You will see hundreds of devotees traveling from every corner of the country waiting in line every day to enter this spiritual temple.
Day 8
Drive from Muktinath to Tatopani

Muktinath Elevation: 3.802 meters

Tatopani Elevation: 1,200 meters

Elevation Loss: 2,602 meters

After concluding your Himalayan expedition on foot from this day onward you will switch to the driving exploration. You will start your adventure early in the morning on this day, if you feel like it, you can also enter the Muktinath Temple for the blessing. Boarding a bus, you will drive down from Muktinath towards the riverbed of the Kali Gandaki River Valley which then stretches toward Jomsom, the headquarters of the Mustang District. It will take you about 6- 7 hours of drive to reach Tatopani, the home of the natural hot spring, from Muktinath.

Passing several beautiful settlements like Jharkot and Ekle Bhatti, you will be also able to enjoy the magnificent views of the Himalayan range like Dhaulagirir, Nilgiri, Tukuche, and Annapurna in this day’s scenic drive. After arriving at Tatopani you can take a dip in the natural hot spring believed to have healing properties before you settle in for the night.
Day 9
Driving down to Pokhara from Tatopani

Switching to a more convenient vehicle, you will start Day 9 of your 10 Days Annapurna Circuit Trek adventure early in the morning. Switching to a more convenient vehicle, you will start your downhill drive from Tatopani which will take roughly about 5- 6 hours. You will first reach the Beni Bazaar, then the scenic trail alongside the mountain views, rivers and waterfalls stretches to the tourist hub Pokhara. This beautiful city is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nepal and is also known as the city of lakes.

You can enjoy the rest of your day in this tourist paradise exploring its natural allurements, and history and just strolling around the lakeside immersing in the beauty of this vibrant town below the Annapurna massifs. You can enjoy all the modernity of the urban lifestyle that you missed during your Himalayan exploration, an overnight stay at one of the finest hotels by the lakeside.
Day 10
Drive back to Kathmandu

Day 10 of your 10 Days Annapurna Circuit Trek will officially conclude your beautiful expedition, after enjoying the fresh morning breakfast at Pokhara, you will drive back to Kathmandu in a comfortable private vehicle. It's about a 200km journey from Pokhara to Kathmandu, you will drive back in this day’s scenic route admiring the elegance of the Marsyangdi River and Trishuli River as you join Prithivi Highway moving across the diverse landscapes, lush hills, and beautiful settlements as you finally arrive at the capital.

After your arrival in Kathmandu, our representative will transfer you to your respective hotels, with enough rest, you can enjoy the rest of the day strolling around the city, and popular landmarks and maybe shop for some unique remarkable souvenirs as a memoir of this beautiful experience.

Do I need to get travel insurance?

While this trek follows mostly intermediate terrains, there are some strenuous climbs. It is not mandatory to get insurance, but it is always a good idea to protect yourself against any mishaps. In case of any accidents or altitude sickness, you will feel more at ease with insurance than without it.

Should I have to worry about altitude sickness?

The maximum elevation is at Thorung La Pass (5416m), which is quite high. Our guides will be fully equipped with medication in case you need any. We make sure to take plenty of breaks to account for this elevation, so you don’t need to worry about any problems with adjusting to the altitude. Our capable team will be ready to tend to your needs.

Will there be adequate accommodation?

The Annapurna Circuit is a popular trek. So, there will be plenty of teahouses and lodges along your way. If you are unfamiliar with teahouses, it is similar to a guest house, and they will be handling both your food and lodging. Your travel package will take care of this, so you can trust that you won’t have to sleep in any sketchy locations.

Will there be Wi-Fi on this trek?

You will have to pay a small additional fee, but most guesthouses tend to offer Wi-Fi.

What additional expenses can I expect?

Is Tilicho lake included in this trek?

Tilicho lake is a two-day trip from Manang. You can choose to add this detour if time is not an issue. It is a beautiful lake and a must-visit if you can fit it into your schedule.

Is the Annapurna Circuit Trek dangerous?

This trek difficulty is moderate to high due to some of the steeper climbs. The majority of this trek follows a fairly straightforward and well-traversed route. Moreover, you will be traveling with our trained staff for whom your safety is the number one priority. Off-season

Trekking Season in Nepal

With proper preparation, you can still trek the Annapurna Circuit during winter and monsoon. These seasons are the off-seasons as the weather does not remain ideal. You need more preparation and precaution before traveling in these periods of the year.

Winter means cold and sudden weather changes. It means you need to prepare yourself before trekking. Packing all the necessary items and wearing warm clothes is crucial.

You need two types of permits during the Annapurna Circuit Trek:

1. TIMS Card

Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) card is necessary if you’re planning to trek across Nepal. It is also mandatory for the Annapurna Circuit Trek because the Nepal Tourism Board issues this permit to ensure the protection and safety of the trekkers.

2. ACAP cards

ACAP stands for Annapurna Conservation Area Project. As you trek around the Annapurna Circuit, you pass through some places under the ACAP region.

So, you require the specific permit-- ACAP to enter these areas.

It costs around US$ 20-23 per person. You can easily get these permits from Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu.

Tips for Annapurna Circuit Trek 10-Day Itinerary

Annapurna Base Camp Trek

  1. Walk at a slow yet steady pace. Hurrying or even taking too many breaks is not a great idea.
  2. Buy high-quality boots and clothing.
  3. During the off-season, pack waterproof clothing and other stuff like raincoats or umbrellas.
  4. Always keep yourself hydrated to prevent chances of altitude sickness. While trekking,  your body needs well over THREE liters of water every day.
  5. If you want to drink water from local taps, use water purifying tablets before you drink it.
  6. Trek with experienced and licensed guides. Hiring porter is also a good idea if you want to travel light.
  7. Make sure you carry enough cash. Also, don’t carry foreign currency as most teahouse owners accept only Nepalese currency.
  8. Avoid alcohol as well as smoking throughout the trek. It tends to dehydrate your body.
