Trek Duration: 3-4 hours

Get ready, as it's time to begin the adventure. We will head towards Kathmandu Airport to catch a scenic flight to Lukla. The planes to Lukla leave early in the morning. We will enjoy 30 minutes of hills, mountains, clouds, and skies.

We will make a safe arrival at Lukla Airport, which is the gateway to the region. From here, we have to walk up to Phakding. While our team arranges everything, we will take a corner of an eatery in Lukla. Once all set to go, we will be off on the trail that goes down.

We will only walk a little on the first day of Everest Base Camp with Island Peak Climbing. Three four hours of easy walk by woods and the Dudh Koshi River is enough for today. The walk should take at most 3-4 hours. We will gradually walk to Phakding for the night in a teahouse.
Day 2
Trek to Namche Bazaar(3,440m)
Trek Duration: 4-5 hours

Accommodation: Teahouse(Namche Bazaar)

Our energy will get even higher as we wake up in Phakding. By having breakfast, we will join the trail. More like the first day, our walk will continue on the sides of the Dudh Koshi River. The walk will be fun due to the Himalayan suspension bridges. Across the day, five bridges dotted with colorful prayer flags will come along.

Briefly, we will reach the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park, a natural world heritage site. We will show our permits and move ahead into the deep woods. We will also get the first glimpses of Mt Everest and other peaks somewhere around here.

We will then walk further and higher to reach Namche Bazaar. The final part of the day’s trek is a bit uphill, which starts from Tenzing Hillary Suspension Bridge. The last walk would bring us to Namche Bazaar, a hill town with an amazing atmosphere. We will have a fantastic evening in the town.
Day 3
Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar(3,440m)
An acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar is a tradition for every Everest Region Trek. We will have one in Everest Base Camp with Island Peak Climbing too. It will help us adjust to the high altitude and avoid altitude sickness during the expedition.

But doing nothing can make it a boring day. Therefore, we will head outside of Namche Bazaar for a hike. A visit to Sagarmatha National Park’s headquarter is one option.

Likewise, we can visit a museum devoted to Mt Everest or the Everest View Hotel. Khumjung and Khunde villages visit is also an option for the day. We will tick as many as possible. Best Time

Everest Base Camp with Island Peak Climbing is a rigorous expedition. You have a mountain to climb and the whole Khumbu circuit to walk. Thus, doing this during the best and most favorable time becomes important.

The best time for this exciting journey is like every other trek or expedition around Nepal. Autumn and Spring are the two favorite seasons for this journey. As you know, the weather in the Himalayas is quite stable and friendly in these two windows. Therefore, you should plan this journey in the Autumn and Spring months.

Autumn(September-October) is a great time due to its good weather conditions. You will have low precipitation levels, bright sunny days, mild temperatures, and unobstructed mountain views. The journey becomes quite amazing under these conditions.

The same is the weather, more or less, in Spring(March-May). In fact, Spring is the best time to climb 8000 m+ peaks, including Mt Everest. You can guess whether it is good for this itinerary or not. You have excellent weather conditions during the walk.

On the other hand, you can plan and do EBC Trek with Island Peak in Winter(December- February) and even in Monsoon(June-August). But, the weather conditions are better than in the other two.

Monsoon has high precipitation levels, slippery trails, obstructed views, and snowfall. Hence, it is an off-time for the trek, and the trail remains much less crowded than at other times.

Similarly, Winter is the coldest time to be in the Himalayas. The temperature is extreme, and snowfall chances are also quite high. Only adventurous people plan during this season. Thus, you will only see a few climbers or trekkers during this season.

Altitude Sickness

AKA Acute Mountain Sickness, Altitude sickness is caused by exposure to low oxygen levels at high altitudes. When a traveler crosses 3000 meters altitude, the oxygen levels drop gradually. As a result, the traveler gets altitude sickness while trekking in the region if not taken precautions.

In that case, Everest Base Camp with Island Peak Climbing is a high-elevation expedition. We have to reach up to 6160m(Island Peak). So there are chances of altitude sickness. Thus we have to take it seriously.

Its major symptoms are lack of appetite, vomiting, nausea, fatigue, weakness, headache, dizziness, insomnia, and shortness of breath. You must descend if these symptoms persist long and hard.

But, you can prevent the sickness by proper acclimatization. Running in the mountains by gaining enormous heights is a major cause. We need to slow our ascend by taking enough rest.

Likewise, we should keep ourselves hydrated all the time. The dehydrated bodies easily succumb to the sickness. We should also avoid alcohol consumption as it dehydrates us.

Always listen to your experienced guide and inform them about your situation. The signs can be reduced by consuming the necessary medications too. Follow what your expedition guide has to say. In this way, we can avoid altitude sickness.

Food, Accommodation, and Amenities

During the Everest Base Camp with Island Peak Climbing, we will eat local, Tibetan, Indian, and continental meals. There are good numbers of teahouses, lodges, bakeries, and restaurants along the trail. Thus, we can easily enjoy food while trekking.

While climbing, our kitchen staff will cook food in the tents. We will get limited but well-cooked food during those days. The common food options during the expedition are Dal Bhat, Noodles, Tibetan Bread, Dumplings, Sandwiches, Egg Omelettes, etc.

Regarding accommodation, we will stay in basic and clean tea houses while trekking. We normally will get twin-sharing rooms with attached bathrooms. There will be two beds, bedsheets, pillows, and blankets. We can ask for extra clothes if needed.

En route, we can find many tea houses that offer us a stay. These teahouses also provide WIFI and hot showers. The charging service is also available. We have to pay some extra for all these things.

A tent will be our accommodation for climbing days. There will be foam mattresses and sleeping bags to sleep inside tents. Our team will set up the tents when no tea houses are around, particularly in the mountains.
