Overview
Bhutan is the wonderland of Himalaya known for its unique cultural settlements, fortresses and unusual landscapes that range from lowland subtropical region to steep hills and deep valley. Located between autonomous region of China and India, Bhutan boasts the mixture of unique, culture, religion and tradition where Gross National Happiness (GNH) matters more than Gross National Product (GNP). The cultural and religious harmony of Bhutanese people binds them together and sets them apart from other big neighboring country.
During this 3 days Bhutan tour, you will discover ancient monasteries, unique architecture, impressive high hill valley and Himalaya landscapes, where snow-capped mountains stand nearby the shadowy gorges nestled in a dense forest. You will drive to Thimpu and unlock the hidden treasure of Paro. This is a short but amazing journey to Bhutan, that will give you a cultural insight of Bhutanese people.
Itinerary
You will take a scenic flight to Paro, with breathtaking views of the Himalayas. You might even see Mt Everest (8848m) if the weather is clear enough, as well as other Himalayan mountain ranges. You will arrive in Paro and meet your guide and driver who will take you to Thimphu. You will check into the hotel and explore the city. Overnight in Thimphu.
After breakfast, you will be driven back to Paro, where you will visit Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang) and Farm House, National Museum. A morning hike to Taktshang Monastery will take you to this most recognizable cultural icon perched 800m up a cliff. It is said that in the 8th century, the great tantric master Guru Rimopche/Padmasambhava (2nd Buddha) flew on the back of a tigress to the site where the monastery now stands. The hike will take 5 hours back and forth. You will also have the possibility to ride a horse, at an additional cost of $25 USD. Also, if you want to take a hot stone bath and eat in the farm house you will visit, it will cost extra $25 USD. Overnight in Paro.
You will be driven to the airport after breakfast and will take a flight back to Kathmandu.
