Overview

During this short but amazing adventure, you will discover the nation, culture, traditions and religion of Bhutan. We will take you through picturesque landscapes of spectacular mountain ranges to the lush green valleys. Bhutan is a beautiful country with stunning landscapes and historical monuments. This trip covers the two most popular touristic destinations of Bhutan : Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan and Paro, Bhutan’s international airport, with a hike to Taktsang monastery. Visiting these two places will give you a good understanding of Bhutan’s rich culture and traditions, marvelous arts and crafts, history, Buddhist religion and life of Bhutanese people.

Itinerary

Day 1
Fly from Kathmandu to Paro

We will take an early morning flight over the Panoramic Himalayan rages from Kathmandu to Paro, arrive at Paro airport and drive to Paro. Check into the hotel.

Day 2
Excursion to Taktsang Monastery

After breakfast, we will drive north of Paro valley to ruins of Drukgyel Dozng. From this fort Bhutanese repelled several invasions by Tibetan armies. We will visit traditional Bhutanese farm House and then take an excursion to Taktsang Monastery, the most famous of Bhutanese monasteries. It is said that Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of Tigress and meditated at this Monastery, hence it is called “Tiger’s Nest”. The Excursion to Monastery’s view point takes about 5 hours for round trip. While returning to Paro town, we will stop to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred shrines of the Kingdom. Overnight in Paro.

Day 3
Drive from Paro to Phunkha

After breakfast , we will drive to Phunkha and explore. Overnight at Phunkha.

Day 4
Drive to Thimpu

After breakfast, we will drive to Thimpu and commence the sightseeing tour which includes a visit to Tashichhodzong, the beautiful medieval fortress/ Monastery. It is also the summer residence of Je Khenpo, the chief Abobot of Bhutan Institute of Zorig Chusum where students undertake a course on the 13 traditional arts and crafts of Bhutan; National Library, which holds an extensive collection of Buddhist texts and manuscripts, some dating back to several hundred years back, as well as modern academic books, mainly on Himalayan culture and religion; The Post office; The Institute of Tibetology; National Memorial Chorten; Handicrafts emporium which displays wide assortment of beautiful handoven and crafted products.

Day 5
Drive to Paro Airport and fly to Kathmandu

After breakfast , it will be time to say goodbye to the guide and porter and take a flight back to Kathmandu.
