Moving ahead, the glacial-fed Bhote Koshi River greets us. Arriving at Monjo, we officially enter the Sagaramatha National Park, so we present our permits and continue trekking.
After Monjo, the trails get steep, and we walk through the Jorsalle village and cross the Hillary Suspension bridge over the Dush Koshi River, and finally arrive at Namche Bazaar. It is a bustling market area where locals sell their handmade products. Therefore, feel free to shop for souvenirs that are more than just decoration, like prayer flags, singing bowls, handmade scarves, and jewelleries.
Accommodation: Everest View Hotel, Syangboche
Before gaining more altitude, it is very important to take a rest day to help our body make the necessary physiological adjustments. However, this does not imply that we stay completely still; we complete an acclimatization hike to Khumjung and Khunde village. First, we walk through the forest trails and beautiful yak pastures with the breathtaking sights of the surrounding peaks and arrive at Khumjung.
After that, walking for around 15 to 20 minutes, we reach Khunde village, where we can behold a spellbinding sight of the Khumbu Valley. After soaking in the panorama, we head towards the Everest View Hotel in Syangboche, the Guinness World Record holder for the highest hotel in the world. It presents a breathtaking view of the Imja Valley, Mount Makalu, and Lhotse.

Accommodation: Oxygen Altitude Lodge – Lobuche
The initial section of today’s Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek consists of steep uphill paths. On our way, we cross the Thukla Pass Memorials, also known as the Climber’s Memorials. It comprises hundreds of stone monuments, plaques, and chortens for those who lost their lives while attempting to summit Everest. Even though we gain more than 500 meters in elevation today, the walk itself is not very demanding.
Along the way, spellbinding panoramas of Mount Pumori, Nuptse, and Mahalangur Himal keep us company. After walking for around 4 to 5 hours, depending on your pace, we arrive at Lobuche. It is a small Sherpa village located in the heart of the Khumbu region. Our overnight stay is at the Oxygen Altitude Home (guest house). The lodge offers clean and comfortable rooms, with hot showers available for our guests. Wi-Fi and charging facilities are available at the lodge for an additional fee.

Upon reaching Everest Base Camp, you stand at the foot of the world’s highest mountain surrounded by dramatic Himalayan scenery. From here you can see the Khumbu Icefall and the massive peaks of the Everest massif.

Trek Difficulty
The Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek is a moderate to challenging journey in Everest Region. This is due to long walking hours, steep paths and high altitude. Although luxury accommodation facilities and support of expert guides make the journey easier and more pleasant, it does not lower the physical demands of the trekking route.
Proper preparation, slow acclimatization and comfortable pacing is essential to conclude this journey successfully.
For EBC trek you must have good cardiovascular health and muscle strength to hike uphill for prolonged periods. You don’t need to be athletic. However, you must be fit enough to handle physical demands of trekking at high altitudes.
On most days you will be walking for around 5 to 7 hours per day. The exact timing varies based on walking pace.
Some sections of the trail might be easier than others. Your experienced guide will set comfortable pace ensuring adequate breaks along the way.
Trek Preparation and Packing
In your day pack you may carry water, energy snacks, sunblock, lip balm, glasses, first aid box, extra jacket, camera, medicines and documents. Having these essentials will ensure that you remain comfortable during your daily trek.
For Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek you should pack comfortable trekking boots, layered clothing (base layers, mid layers and outer layers), a down jacket, gloves, a warm hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, toiletries and personal medications.
The weather conditions change quickly in higher areas. So, packing in layers is essential. It helps you stay comfortable throughout the adventure.

Weather and Best Time
The ideal time to plan for the Luxury EBC trek is during the spring (March to May) or in the autumn (September to November). During these seasons, climate is stable with clear skies, good visibility, well defined trails and great mountain views.
In addition, the likelihood of heavy snow and rain is also minimal in these seasons. So, you can trek comfortably and complete your adventure within your intended timeframe.
The weather matters for the Luxury Everest Base Camp trek. If the weather is stable, then trekking becomes easier. The stable conditions let you move at a comfortable pace without any disruption.
However, conditions such as heavy snowfall, strong winds and rain can affect the trek. So, it is necessary to pay attention to the weather forecast before beginning the trek. For this trek, the guide will be monitoring the weather and will ensure that you head out only in safe conditions.
Yes. The flights from Kathmandu to Lukla depend greatly on weather. Prioritizing safety, flights are operated only when conditions are stable.
In case the weather is bad flights can be either postponed or cancelled. So it is better to have some extra days in your itinerary.
The monsoon season (June to August) brings heavy rains, especially in low-altitude areas. In this season, cloudy weather and monsoon haze can make sightseeing in the mountains harder.
The weather is warm at lower altitudes while higher sections are still on the colder side. The cloud cover can affect mountain visibility. Also, frequent downpours can make trails wet and muddy.
Winter (December-February), on the other hand is colder especially at higher altitudes. The snow may be present on parts of the trail. The high winds and freezing nighttime temperatures can also be difficult to endure especially for those who are not used to such conditions.
Despite the challenges mentioned above winter and monsoon treks have their own distinct charm. There are fewer people on the trails. This lets trekkers immerse themselves in tranquil atmosphere.
But because there are notable challenges that can also affect trekking experience joining the adventure at this time requires proper planning and flexibility.
Altitude Adaptation and Trek Safety
The early signs of altitude sickness include headaches, dizziness, fatigue, nausea and lack of appetite. Make sure not to ignore these symptoms. Notify your guide about it if you experience any of the symptoms.
Luxury Everest Base Camp trek combines comfort with carefully planned itinerary. It is designed with acclimatization days. In addition, it includes support from experienced guides, comfortable accommodation and nutritious meals.
You will get to rest at luxury lodges, have nutrient rich meals, ensure proper hydration and walk at gradual pace to adapt to high Himalayas comfortably. During the trek, an expert guide will frequently observe your overall health status during the trek.
The guide will carry an emergency first aid kit with an oximeter to keep track of oxygen to check for altitude related health problems. This helps them to identify the symptoms. Early identification can help symptoms to be managed well before they worsen.
In case you feel unwell notify your guide immediately instead of pushing yourself further. You need to stop ascending and rest.
Depending on your condition, you will be advised either to rest at the current elevation or arrangements for descent will be made. In emergencies guides will arrange for medical help or evacuation.
During emergencies, your safety is of highest importance. Professional guides quickly analyze the situation and if needed, they will arrange evacuation on helicopter. Guides will coordinate the necessary logistics and help ensure you reach appropriate medical care safely.
Helicopter flights in the Everest region are generally safe. They are only operated under favourable weather conditions. Experienced pilots handle these flights. The helicopters are also regularly maintained. When conditions aren't secure, the flights are usually rescheduled.

More Information
Best Time for Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek
The Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek is doable the entire year. However, the best times for the journey are the spring and autumn because of the weather and excellent visibility. With that, here is a comprehensive description of what to expect each season.
Spring
It is considered one of the best times of the year for the Luxury EBC Trek. As the winter ends, the temperature spikes up, and the region becomes alive with blooming wildflowers. Similarly, the weather pattern is more predictable; clear blue skies and minimal cloud formation provide excellent visibility. Therefore, trekkers can witness the unobstructed panoramic views of the Himalayas. Early spring may still have lingering winter cold in the air, and some higher trails may have icy or snowy patches. However, by the middle of the month, the temperature is significantly warmer. Additionally, all the icy remnants melt away, and the trails remain dry and firm.
Lower and mid-region trekking routes are decorated with colorful rhododendron, pine, and oak forests. Likewise, wildlife remains active around this time, and the birds start migrating back to the mountains. Therefore, there are higher chances of spotting unique animals in their natural habitat. As it is a peak trekking season, you can also meet fellow trekkers from around the world, interact with them, and learn about their culture. Lastly, mountain currents or winds are minimal, reducing the chances of major turbulence during the helicopter flights.
Autumn
It is overall the best time for the Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek. As the monsoon bids farewell, the atmospheric dust clears up, and the sweeping views become crystal clear. Similarly, the hills become lush green, which creates a sharp contrast with the pearly white mountains. Early September receives occasional post-monsoon rainfall, making the trekking routes slippery for a short time. However, as the rain stops and the temperature increases, they get dry and sturdy.
The weather is stable, and the temperature is warm in the lower and mid sections and comfortably cool in the higher sections. Likewise, there are fewer chances of natural disasters, like landslides and rockfalls. Autumn also coincides with major festivities of Nepal (Dashain and Tihar). Therefore, trekkers get a combination of community celebrations and spellbinding scenic views. The trails can be crowded, and teahouses are mostly fully occupied, requiring advanced bookings. So, plan your trip with a tour operator like Nepal Eco Adventure and avoid such hassle, and let us book premium stays for you even during the peak seasons.
Winter Season
With proper gear and preparation, this period can be extremely rewarding in terms of the mountain views. Moreover, as it receives fewer travellers, compared to Spring and Autumn, this is especially suitable for trekkers seeking a peaceful experience. When the heavy snowfall stops, the visibility is unmatched and reveals some of the most stunning panoramic views. The snow-covered villages and the majestic Himalayas make up the visuals that look like a winter wonderland.
The villages and trails are calm, and the interactions with the locals of the region feel more personal. However, the temperature drops below zero in higher regions, so insulated clothes and proper layering are important. Be cautious about possible hypothermia and frostbite, and wear a wool hat, gloves, and a buff or neck gaiter. Wear sturdy boots and take the help of trekking sticks or poles to improve balance on the slippery paths. Winter weather changes in the blink of an eye, so always check the weather forecast. Even with occasional snowstorms, the helicopter flights operate safely, thanks to the well-trained pilot and the team.
Monsoon/Rainy Season
Generally, this period is referred to as the least suitable for trekking in Nepal. However, it offers a serene experience and the most lush green vegetation. As this season receives the least amount of travellers, the trails are quiet, and the entire journey feels relaxed and peaceful. Therefore, a Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek in winter is ideal for those who value greenery and solitude and do not mind the wet surroundings.
When the rainfall is not heavy and the clouds clear up, the views are breathtaking, and the region is alive with colorful flora. The wildlife also remains active in the monsoon, so trekkers may spot them. Walking with the sound of roaring rivers and cascading waterfalls makes for a peaceful experience. However, the trails can be slippery and muddy from prolonged rainfall, so to avoid tripping and falling, wear boots with a good grip and use a trekking pole. Likewise, carry anti-leech ointment and bug spray, as they are prevalent in forests and damp sections. There may be possible delays in helicopter flights due to harsh weather conditions. Nevertheless, they will be operated with utmost safety.
